Essence of a brand

Since 1983, many moments have marked the history of Sonus faber; the launch of the Olympica Collection 6 years ago is one of them. One of the first lines presented as a complete family of products, but above all, the very first one to feature original drivers, entirely designed in Sonus faber. Olympica Nova is the second generation of the iconic family of 2013, improved in its form and substance, imbued with the timeless values that inspired us in creating the original line. The result is a new Collection that embraces the most advanced technologies that already enhance Sonus Faber's most prestigious creations.

Organic Shape

The absence of parallel walls improves the performance of the cabinet and maintains the asymmetrical lute shape typical of the first generation of Olympica. The asymmetrical section is the result of an original design work that offers the possibility to choose the best positioning, calibrated on the specific listening situation and on the desired bass reproduction. Inspired by nature, the lines flow in a circular spiral motion making the reflex duct structure become one with the cabinet walls. The reflex outlet is no longer an additional element for managing the passage of air, but a cavity organically integrated into the cabinet that ensures even more speed and cleanliness of the sound.

Features

Olympica Nova I is the bookshelf model of the line wonderfully finished in its clean design, intended to be used on a bookshelf or on its stand.

Wood

Just like the cabinet sides, the front baffle and the top are made in the walnut or wenge hand-finished natural wood, set in a solid die-cast aluminium plate. Sonus Faber's designers wished to pay homage to the most representative material of Sonus Faber, making it even more of a standard-bearer.

Crossover

The cross over network implements Paracross Topology, making the crossover less sensitive to radio-frequency interference, improving transient response and lowering noise floor. The filtering topology features new exclusive Clarity Cap capacitors, customised for Sonus Faber.

Reflex Port

The solid piece of extruded aluminum that complete the Stealth Ultraflex system, an extremely low-turbulence porting system, is inherited from Homage Tradition models. Favoring the profile of sea waves, the strutcure facilitates airflow trhough the duct while controlling it's speed and reducing the distortion-causing turbulence.

Structural Rigidity

The entire structure of the acoustic enclosure has been redesigned: Similar to the Homage Tradition and Reference Collections, the walls are made witheight layrs of bended wood, providing the cabinet with extreme rigidity

Natural Leather

The natural leather embellishes the Voice of Sonus faber, the brand's iconic configuration of tweeter and midwoofer. Genuine Italian leather that, as per the brand's tradition, is applied by hand in the production department in Vicenza.

Midwoofer

It shares its technical characteristics with the bigger siblings' midrange. As a matter of fact, it is the same speaker but wuth two main differences. The fabric hand coated dust-cap, which is implemented to maximise the diaphragm's emitting surface and therefore allowing for deeper low frequencies extension while, at the same time, perfectly blending with the tweeter from the tonal balance standpoint. The additional winding of the voice-coil improves the driver's excursion allowing for a much longer throw.

Tweeter

The 28mm silk soft dome tweeter features the DAD technology (Damped Apex Dome) that enhances the smoothness and extension in the high frequency by applying local dampening to the apex typically responsible for anti-phase behaviour of soft dome diaphragms. The DAD structure has been totally redesigned: a solid piece of aluminium die-cast includes both arch and ring on the dome to increase the strength and accuracy of the system.
